Teddie Joe Neeley (born September 20, 1943) is an American singer, actor, musician, composer, and record producer. He is known for portraying the title role in the 1973 film adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar, for which he was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and has reprised numerous times.
Neeley considers himself a baritone, and is known for his
extremely wide vocal range and rock screams—notably the G above high C
(G5) in "Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say)" from Jesus Christ
Superstar.
American musical Biblical drama film directed by Norman Jewison, co-written by Jewison and Melvyn Bragg, and choreographed by Robert Iscove. It is based on the 1970 concept album written by Tim Rice and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which in turn spawned the 1971 stage musical. The film depicts the conflict between Judas and Jesus[4] and the emotions and motivations of the main characters during the week of the crucifixion of Jesus. It stars Ted Neeley, Carl Anderson, Yvonne Elliman, and Barry Dennen in the principal roles.

[sobre la filmación de 'Jesucristo, Superstar'] Norman Jewison nos tuvo allí mucho antes de la fecha de rodaje, solo para que pudiéramos aclimatarnos al clima y poder ponernos el sol en el cuerpo. No podíamos creer cuando vimos los diarios, viendo cómo nos dejaban mechas en el pelo por el sol, yendo a por lo que éramos, los estadounidenses y canadienses que venían allí con un aspecto impecable, para convertirnos en gente del desierto.
